Sid:  My guest is Tommy Welchel. Tommy was handpicked by God as a young youngster to sit under people that were involved in the Azusa Street Revival.  The miracles they told him about are so important.  Why?  Because when people read his book out loud, the same atmosphere that was at Azusa Street comes upon them.  And the same miracles, I believe that miracle anointing is being release today, I believe that miracle anointing that when he tells stories the same things are going to happen to you.  Now Tommy, there were so many interesting people that you got to know that were involved in Azusa Street and they were just ordinary people but they were touch by this presence of God.  Tell me about the Langfords.

Tommy:  The Langfords of course most of these people came physically after they had retired.  But Brother Langford was a…

Sid:  And that was a more of a retirement place and that’s where you met most of them, but tell me again about the Langfords.

Tommy:  Brother Langford had gone to in 1903 he went to Topeka to attend Brother Parham’s Bible school and he was there for two years.  He was in the graduation class of ’05 just before Parham went down to Houston. Then he of course he had board at Topeka that’s where I had been staying, that’s where these people were but they were back there in ’05 and so they were there almost at the beginning of the Azusa Street Revival, and they had miracles after miracles all the time.  One of my favorite’s is a man came in and all he had on him on one of his hands was his thumb.  The others had been cut off, the four fingers so he told the man to raise his hand, that God was going to heal him.  And the man just said, “He didn’t know that, he just said, “God’s going to heal you,” so raise your hand.  So he raised his hand, Brother Langford was find of he’d be blunt and he’d tell you to do this.  So the Lord put his hand up and Sister Langford got a hold of hand to help hold it up and Brother Langford laid hands on him and prayed for him and these fingers, all four of them started growing out.  Of course Sister Langford got over emotional and was seeing this and she passed out.  As they grew out Brother Langford got the man by the hand and was waving his hand in the air and pulled him around the mission hollering out look at, look God just grew out this man’s fingers.  And of course they had a big celebration, a big shouting because of that man’s finger growing out, and the Langfords were really sweethearts.  My wife even got to know them real well with Brother Langford there and they had many, many healings; the Langfords did.  But Brother Langford he mainly prayed for just different miracles, Galore she had miracles but mainly she stood and watched her husband, her then fiancée, which they later on married.  And the Langfords he was a very straight forward blunt person, she was just a total sweetheart and he still had a few miracles there at Pisgah when I was there.

Sid:  What about the nose that was eaten off with cancer?

Tommy:  Okay, now that was, that thing was he prayed for and it just it was healed.  See there was two nose things, one of Sister Mangrum that she had a hooknose that God straightened out, and then God did some plastic surgery on it later.

Sid:  Now God did the plastic surgery or a doctor?

Tommy:   No, God did.

Sid:   That’s my kind of plastic surgery, but no I want to know the story about the nose that was eaten off with cancer that grew back.

Tommy:  This person had come in and they kept kind of like gaze stuff over it you know, kind of a mask.

Sid:  I’ve seen people like that, yes.

Tommy:  It was hideous and it stunk; I could imagine so wouldn’t you think?

Sid:  Hmm, hmm.

Tommy:  He prayed for that and you could see the stench went away, and he said the pain was gone but you could reach up and took that mask off.  And then you could see that thing grow right out. See I want to see this begin again today; I believe it can happen and I’ve seen some great miracles in my life but it’s going to come back and it’s going to get greater and greater and greater.  And yes the more faith we have and that’s what I’m wanted this book to do is to do is to get people faith to believe.  God will use each and every one of us that will simply believe and obey.  The Langfords which were some of the greatest examples of this that there was, and I asked Sister Langford about how many miracle that she think was performed there at the Azusa.  She said between her and her husband probably three or four a day and they went three or four times a week.

Sid:  Now that was just her and her husband, how about all the other people that were at Azusa Street?  Can you imagine how many miracles must have been happening?

Tommy:  That place seated maybe 700 and they said, Seymour came down three times a day and spoke, but that thing never did stop.

Sid:  Now for those that weren’t familiar with Seymour he was the man that God used to start Azusa Street that move of God’s Spirit. You know a hundred years ago he was a one eyed black man.  I would have to assume the congregation was mostly white, a hundred years ago he would have been the lease likely, it reminds me of the Todd Bentley campaign that’s going on right now.  I mean he’s in his young 30’s, he’s got tattoos up and down his arms, he’s got ear rings in various places, he is the least likely, but that’s what Seymour was, the least likely.  Why does God use the foolish to confound the wisdom of the wise?

Tommy:  So man can’t get the credit.

Sid:  I mean I can just picture, you talk about it in your book of Seymour sitting in the meeting with a box over his head, and he does dare take the box off of his head, he’s praying and he doesn’t dare take the box off of his head until he hears from God and everyone knows the minute he takes the box off his head they are going to hear from God.  Contrast that with the slick sophisticated seeker sensitive pastors here in the United States.

Tommy:  Well, Yeah.  I’ve talked to one in Oklahoma City, he says “He doesn’t, God will have to do it, He’ll do it through the most unlikely because the churches today probably they wouldn’t let God come in .

Sid:  Listen, we’re so hungry now that I think even these pastors that would not God come in and of course it’s not intentional they’re so desperate that they are willing to put a box over their head.  I’ll put a box over my head if God tells me, boy to have those kind of miracles, nose eaten off by cancer and have it grow back right before your eyes.  Tell me a few other interesting miracles.

Tommy:  Well, a great miracle with me with brother Ralph Riggs he wasn’t big in the time in the Assembly of God but he wasn’t but a young man himself.  But at Azusa Street starting he was about twelve years old but later on I say about maybe ’08 this very large man came in about 6’4” over 250 pounds all drunk the stench of alcohol was on him and Riggs didn’t like it to well but as he began to notice the man was blind.  And a voice inside of him told him to go pray for this man, so Ralph obeyed God and went up to him and told him you’re blind aren’t you and he said, “Yes, that’s what I came here for, I came here to get healed.” So Riggs prayed for him and he got healed miraculously right then and there and even the smell of the smell of the alcohol left.  He said he kind of smelled like he had perfume on, after shave or something on, a cologne, he smelled good after he prayed for him.  That same man later on in the Midwest ,Riggs would meet him because he found an awful lot of Assembly of God Churches to the Midwest and he had been a blind man; you know he had his stick his white stick with the red tip on it.  He was instantly healed right then, right there and then God later on used him in a tremendous way.

Sid:  I’ve got a question for you, it’s been prophesied by many that a 100 years after Azusa Street which is where we’re at right now, there’s going to be a great revival.  Do you believe that this great revival that is here right now is going to usher in Jesus?

Tommy:  Yes, I don’t know how long it will be, but yes.

Sid:  Has God given you any other insight into this next great revival that both of us believe has started.

Tommy:  Well, I believe that He’s not going to be no, a lot of — say it’s going to surround you, and I say “No it’s not, don’t you dare do that, God’s going to go where God wants to go; He’s going to do what He wants to do with who He wants to and He will get none of our permission. “The only thing that is that if we will obey him we’ll be part of it and it’s already starting now.  Now I agree with Billye Brimm, I was with her down at the Osage Beach, Missouri at Church Walk on Water Church where she prophesied that and it was teaching that the former reign was the Book of Acts the later reign was Azusa, this now outpouring which she’s having the Shekinah Glory in some of her meetings, you know that?

Sid:  No, I didn’t when you say the Shekinah Glory are you talking about the manifest presence of God where people can see the clouds with their eyes?

Tommy:  Yes.  And she said, the anointing came on her and she was prophesying and she said, this book of Brother Tommy’s is going to get people to hunger and to thirst to seek God and then this anointing will start to be poured out on them. That’s what’s happening.  But this is not only happening here we’re getting word from all over the world there now sneaking this thing into China you know that?

Sid:  No, I wasn’t aware of that, I can’t imagine what these Chinese Christians are doing with these stories, they’ve got enough faith to believe that when they read these stories these things will happen, I’m sure.

Tommy:  Oh, they believe it, but they’re going to start printing it over there, I gave them permission to.  But they are going to print it in Chinese.
